Farmingville, NY – On April 29, recently elected Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich (left) was sworn in during a ceremony at Brookhaven Town Hall. The oath of office was administered by New York State Supreme Court Justice Valerie M. Cartright (right), a former Town Councilwoman from Council District 1. Councilmember Kornreich was joined by Supervisor Edward P. Romaine, Town Clerk Donna Lent, and his colleagues on the Town Board.
Councilmember Kornreich was elected to the Brookhaven Town Council in March 2021. He is a long-time civic and community leader in Three Village, where he has served on the Three Village Board of Education for the last 13 years and has led the Three Village Civic Association since 2010. During his service to Three Village, he worked to improve educational outcomes for students while remaining relentlessly focused on stretching each taxpayer dollar through efficiencies and strong oversight. The Councilmember is guided by a steadfast commitment to community and is determined to deliver results for neighbors throughout the First Council District. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, he mobilized a community-wide effort to deliver groceries to homebound and at-risk neighbors. Councilmember Kornreich’s career as an entrepreneur began after graduating from SUNY Albany, when he started a successful swimming pool business. He has since dedicated his professional life to helping small businesses thrive and mentoring the new generation as they pursue the dream of small business ownership and homeownership.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Councilmember Kornreich said “a wise person once said that national politics is what you see on TV but town government is what you see when you drive down the road. The town is where communities are planned, built, and critical services are delivered. I want you to know that I will work for you each and every day and my team is enthusiastic, experienced, and eager to work side by side with you.”
