[ARCHIVED] Brookhaven Highway Department Offers Online Defensive Driving Class

Town Seal

Holtsville, NY – The Brookhaven Highway Department’s Division of Traffic Safety is offering an online 6-Hour New York Point and Insurance Reduction Course.

This comprehensive driver safety course will provide students with the knowledge and techniques for safe, lawful driving and a 10% discount on their auto insurance over a three-year period. Once the course is successfully completed, students may also be eligible to reduce up to four points on their driving record. The course is approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles; the cost is $25.

“I am happy to be able to offer this online Defensive Driving class to Brookhaven residents, as part of my ongoing efforts to keep motorists safe on the roadways,” said Superintendent of Highways Daniel P. Losquadro. “Due to the pandemic, we have been unable to offer in-person classes and this is a very flexible and convenient alternative. Students can work at their own pace and take as much time as is needed – up to 30 days -- to read and complete the course materials.” To register, visit www.brookhavenny.gov/190/Defensive-Driving-Classes.
