Medford, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Neil Foley have announced the recent completion of several paving projects in Patchogue and Medford communities.

The first project involved the resurfacing of six roads including Greenport Avenue, a main arterial roadway connecting Route 112 and Old Medford Avenue in Medford. Crews milled 37,000 square yards of asphalt and laid 4,800 tons to resurface the roadways. In addition to Greenport Avenue, this project included the paving of Mt. Vernon Avenue, Poplar Lane, Syracuse Avenue, Cedar Avenue and a portion of Olympic Avenue.

Another project in Patchogue involved the resurfacing of North Clinton Avenue, Old North Ocean Avenue, Shaber Road and Ohls Street. This project involved extensive, in-house concrete and sidewalk work, as well as drainage repairs. Crews replaced and installed six concrete aprons and 920 linear feet of concrete sidewalk; nearly 6,000 tons of asphalt were used in resurfacing.

Most recently, a 12-road paving project in a residential Medford neighborhood in a school zone was completed. Two of these roadways—Ferrick Avenue and Vine Street—required the Full Depth Reclamation process, rather than milling and paving. Crews replaced and installed 4,650 square feet of aprons and 2,580 linear feet of curbing.

Superintendent Losquadro said, “It was very satisfying to complete the work that we did this season in Patchogue and Medford. Many of the roadways were in very poor condition and now provide some much needed relief for residents who travel them on a daily basis.”

Councilman Foley said, “When our roads are re-paved, it not only looks better, it's much safer for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycle riders. Superintendent Losquadro has been making tremendous progress improving roads in neighborhoods across Brookhaven Town and I thank him and the men and women of the Highway Department for the work they've done in my district.”
