Brookhaven, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Jane Bonner have announced the completion of two Rocky Point paving projects totaling $937,000.
Prior to paving 16 roadways in a residential neighborhood just north of the Rocky Point Fire Department on King Road, crews inspected and installed new drains and repaired and replaced damaged concrete curbing and aprons. Roadways resurfaced include: Aster Road, Canary Road, Daffodil Road, Ermine Road, Florida Road, Gardenia Road, Hazel Street, Helen Street, Hemlock Road, Ivy Road, King Road, Nymph Road, Oak Road, Olive Street, Palm Road, and Pine Road. The total cost for this paving project was approximately $449,400.
In an additional project, crews resurfaced five roadways including Hillcrest Avenue, Hillside Avenue, Oakland Avenue, Rocky Point Landing Road from Hallock Landing to Hagerman Landing, and The Lane. This project involved the removal and replacement of 3,177 linear feet of concrete curb and 1,125 square feet of concrete apron. The total cost for this paving project was $487,740 Superintendent Losquadro said, “When we go into these areas to pave, crews first assess and address any drainage issues and inspect concrete curbing, aprons and sidewalks before resurfacing. The roadways in these two projects had greatly deteriorated and are now safer and smoother for all who travel them.”
Councilwoman Jane Bonner said, “Spring is when our Highway Department goes into high gear with repaving projects and this year it’s no different. I thank Superintendent Losquadro and the men and women of the Highway Department for improving these roads and making them safer for everyone.”
