Farmingville, NY - On July 25, Supervisor Ed Romaine (center) attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony at the Manorville Fire Department headquarters for Jeffrey John “JJ” DiMarco (right) from Boy Scout Troop 221 in Manorville. During the event, the Supervisor congratulated JJ for his achievements and presented him with a proclamation from the Town Board. “JJ’s” Eagle Scout project was to create two picnic tables and install seven garden boxes at the Eastport Junior/Senior High School courtyard for the Interact Club. He also collected and donated $600 to the school’s club fund. Recently, “JJ” was awarded a four-year academic and science scholarship to Florida Southern College and will pursue a career in biotechnology, with a minor in marine biology.

Supervisor Romaine said, “Congratulations to ‘JJ’ for completing his project and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a fine young man who will certainly be a leader of tomorrow and I wish him all the best of luck as he moves on to college in the fall."

Since the award was presented in 1912, no more than four percent of all Scouts have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than two million young men.
