Farmingville, NY – –The Town of Brookhaven is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Henri, which is predicted to reach Hurricane status on Friday in the early morning hours. Some models have the storm tracking into our region Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening as a Tropical Storm. Winds from Tropical Storm Henri may begin to be felt in our region as early as Saturday PM. Although we are uncertain as to the track and intensity of the storm at this time winds, storm surge and rip currents can be expected. Please take advantage over the next few days to prepare as you see appropriate to protect your family and property.
Supervisor Ed Romaine reminds residents that the 2021 Hurricane Survival Guide is available on the Town’s website at www.BrookhavenNY.gov. The guide is designed to help residents prepare for a hurricane and other severe weather incidents. It covers preparations and procedures for virtually every hurricane scenario and includes hurricane surge maps which are useful in understanding how different areas might be impacted by hurricanes of varying intensities. There are also important phone numbers, lists, tips, a Family Disaster Supplies Kit check list, and tear sheets for use at home and at work.
