Town to Close Beaches, Pools, Marinas and More Starting Saturday at 9:00 PM

Farmingville, NY – –In anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Henri on Sunday, August 22, the Town of Brookhaven has announced that all Town Pools, Beaches, Marinas, Recreation Centers, Senior Centers and Nature Centers will be closed starting at 9:00 pm on Saturday, August 21 and remain closed until further notice. All Parks and Recreation programs are also canceled. In addition, the parking lot at Port Jefferson Harbor will also be closed.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall and severe wind gusts on Sunday into Monday. Flooding is also expected, especially along the north shore. The Town will open its Emergency Operation Center at 9:00 am on Sunday to provide around the clock hurricane monitoring while it approaches and tracks over Long Island.
