Town Demolishes Vacant House on Mill Road in Calverton for Open Space Preservation

Farmingville, NY – On August 31, Supervisor Ed Romaine (left), Suffolk County Legislators Al Krupski (center) and Jim Mazzarella (right) were on-hand for the demolition of a vacant house located at 20 Mill Road in Calverton. The property, which was not maintained for many years, is located within Central Pine Barrens Preservation Area. It was seized by Suffolk County as a property tax forfeiture and transferred to the Town for demolition. and will be preserved as open space.

Supervisor Romaine said, “This house has been a blight on the neighborhood for many years and has numerous Town code violations that make it a safety hazard. Finally, the neighbors will not have to deal with this eyesore any longer. I thank County Legislators Krupski and Mazzarella for working with the Town to clean up our community and preserve more open space.”
