Superintendent Losquadro, Councilwoman Cartright Announce Completion of Two Large Paving Projects

Coram, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Valerie Cartright have announced the completion of two major paving projects in Stony Brook’s O- and M-sections, as well as Hallock Road from Route 347 to Stony Brook Road and Oxhead Road from Nicolls Road to Stony Brook Road.

The total cost for the Hallock, Oxhead and O-section paving project, which was completed in July, was approximately $684,000. Crews replaced and installed 2,878 square feet of aprons, 2,225 linear feet of curbing, 3,790 square feet of sidewalk, and installed 698 square feet of new ADA-compliant handicap ramps. In the M-section, 20 roadways were resurfaced; this project was completed in October with a total cost of approximately $734,000.

“The roads in both the M- and O-sections had badly deteriorated over the years,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “I am confident that area residents and motorists, as well as students and educators traveling to and from Robert Cushman Murphy Junior High School, have been enjoying safer, smoother travels since the completion of these projects.”

Councilwoman Cartright said, “I am glad to see the completion of the paving projects in these Three Village neighborhoods. The repair work done by Superintendent Losquadro’s staff has improved the quality of life for the local residents who travel them every day.”

Roads paved during these projects include: Olney Way, Olympia Lane, Onyx Drive, Orbit Drive, Ormont Lane, Oval Court, Brookview Court, Haddon Street, Lynbrook Road, Madeley Lane, Magnet Street, Manor Lane, Mapleshade Lane, Mare Court, Mariner Street, Maureen Lane, Maymont Lane, Meadow Drive, Media Lane, Midfield Street, Mosshill Place, Mystic Court, Mystic Way, Singingwood Drive, Troon Road, and Westwood Avenue, as well as Hallock Road and Oxhead Road.
