Farmingville, NY – The Long Island Railroad has announced that the William Floyd Parkway grade crossing located on the Long Island Rail Road`s Montauk Branch in the Town of Brookhaven has been scheduled for rehabilitation and will require the closing of the railroad crossing to road and rail traffic on Friday, March 3 at 10:00pm to Sunday March 5 at 5:00am. The LIRR will install a new concrete grade pad at the crossing.
Detour Routes are as Follows: Southbound - Proceed south on William Floyd Parkway to Montauk Highway, make a left and proceed east to Mastic Road, make a right and proceed south to Patchogue Avenue / Northern Boulevard., make a right and proceed west to William Floyd Parkway.
Northbound - Proceed north on William Floyd Parkway to Patchogue Avenue / Northern Boulevard, make a right and proceed east to Mastic Road, make a left and proceed north to Montauk Highway, make a left and proceed west to William Floyd Parkway.
Track Closures: There will be no train service from Patchogue to Montauk on Saturday, March 4, from12:39 am until 12:54 am on Sunday, March 5. Bus service will be provided.
While the work is in progress, the Long Island Rail Road and the MTA Police will provide the necessary flagmen, detour signs and crossing protection. In addition, they are contacting the Suffolk County Police Department and local fire departments.
Upon completion, temporary paving material will be put down and then permanently repaved at a later date. This effort will affect only a single lane of traffic. Traffic will be maintained for both directions.
