Farmingville, NY – On March 22, Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich (pictured) was the guest speaker at the North Shore Jewish Center in Port Jefferson Station. He had the honor of spending the afternoon with the synagogue’s senior group to talk about the role of the Town of Brookhaven in the community and what he and his staff are working on to benefit Council District 1.
Councilmember Kornreich said, "For more than 100 years, the Jewish community has played a central role in the history of the Three Village area. In fact, just a few months ago, we celebrated the 125th anniversary of the first synagogue to be built on Long Island. That original congregation later relocated to the current site of the North Shore Jewish Center where they continue to thrive under the leadership of Rabbi Aaron Benson. Thank you, Rabbi Benson and members of the North Shore Jewish Center for hosting us and for the delicious bagels.”
