Farmingville, NY – On March 24, Councilman Michael Loguercio (right) visited Dr. Joseph Hendrie of Bellport Village to present him with a proclamation honoring him on his 97th birthday. Dr Hendrie was born on March 18, 1925 in Janesville, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1950 from Case Institute of Technology and later, in 1957, a Ph.D. in Physics from Columbia University. Dr. Hendrie worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory for many years, performing research on nuclear power reactors and managing construction on various lab projects. The proclamation from Councilman Loguercio named the 18th day of March 2022 as Dr. Joseph Hendrie Day in the Town of Brookhaven.
Councilman Loguercio said, "Thank you to Dr. Hendrie for all of your exemplary contributions to science and our nation, it was great to hear about your experiences that span over many decades. It was my honor to present you with this proclamation that recognized your special day here in the Town of Brookhaven."
