Brookhaven, NY – Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro recently awarded two local high school seniors with $1,000 Highway Superintendents Association scholarships.

The recipients—Matthew Vecchio, a Comsewogue High School senior, and Darren Hinchman, a senior from Sachem High School East—both plan to pursue careers in engineering and were selected among dozens of applications.

“I am always impressed by the quality of the applicants who apply for the Highway Superintendents Association scholarships. This year, while they were all very impressive, Matthew and Darren stood out for their strong work ethics, challenging class schedules and innovative ideas to make meaningful contributions with their engineering degrees,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “I wish them both all the best as they continue their educations and only hope they will return to Long Island to pursue their engineering careers and share their talents with us.”
