[ARCHIVED] Councilman Panico Honored with Order of the Ancient Sons and Daughters of Italy Golden Lion Award

Farmingville, NY - Brookhaven Town Councilman and Deputy Supervisor Dan Panico joined a distinguished list of honorees when he received the prestigious Golden Lion Award from the New York State Grand Lodge Foundation, Order of the Ancient Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, at its 38th Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, April 22. The event was held at the Garden City Hotel where Councilman Panico was honored alongside fellow Italian Americans for their commitment and dedication to public service. Also honored were the Honorable Joseph G. Cairo, Jr.; Dr. Mark A. Capodanno; the Honorable Salvatore Ferro; and the Honorable Peter T. King. “I thank the Grand Lodge of New York, Sons and Daughters of Italy for this incredible honor. I am proud of my Italian ancestry and proud to be honored by an organization that works actively to preserve and advance our cultural heritage. The event was truly exceptional, and I thank all those who worked to make the evening at the Garden City Hotel so magnificent. I congratulate my distinguished and esteemed co-honorees, who include the Honorable Peter King, Chairman Cairo, Dr. Capodanno and Councilman Ferro.”

The Order of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, was founded in 1905 by a group of Italian immigrants living in New York City who wanted to unite Italian immigrants, while preserving their Italian heritage and culture. More than 100 years later, the Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, has grown to be one of the most philanthropic organizations, raising funds to support a myriad of nonprofits and causes including Alzheimer’s Association and cancer research.
