Farmingville, NY – - On May 14, Supervisor Ed Romaine (left) and Councilwoman Jane Bonner (second from left) joined “Curby,” the Town’s recycling mascot, Girl Scout Troop 604 and troop leader Beth Henry (back row, fourth from left) to clean up Rocketship Park in Rocky Point and the surrounding neighborhood streets. The event was organized as part of the 14th Annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up which is part of a national effort where community members from across America come together to pick up litter, clean miles of roadways, and beautify parks, rivers, and seashores. More than 2500 people participated in the clean-up which was held throughout Brookhaven Town. It was co-sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management, TEACHERS Federal Credit Union and Keep America Beautiful, Inc. The Annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up is part of a national effort that draws nearly 2.5 million volunteers in more than 15,000 communities across America who come together to pick up litter, renew parks, and clean miles of roadway, rivers, lakes, and seashore.
