Farmingville, NY – -NY - On June 28, Supervisor Ed Romaine was on hand for the dedication ceremony of the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum and Sea Cadet Training Center located at 50 West Avenue in West Sayville. LT Murphy, a Navy Seal from Patchogue, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for protecting the lives of his fellow SEALs during an intense firefight in the hills of Afghanistan in 2005. The museum, which is only the second of its kind in the United States, will display and preserve the history and legacy of the Navy Special Warfare Operators (SEALs). The new facility will also serve as a training center for Naval Sea Cadets.
