Town Seal

Farmingville, NY - On Friday, July 29 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm the Town of Brookhaven will be sponsoring a free diabetic screenings and education services event with Sun River Health and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County (CCE Suffolk) in the parking lot of Brookhaven Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville.

Sun River Health’s Mobile Diabetes Screening Clinic is equipped with air conditioning and two private exam rooms. Their staff will offer a simple blood test, hemoglobin A1C, that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. Results will take approximately 5 minutes. A Registered Dietician (RD) from the CCE Suffolk Diabetes Program will be available to meet one-on-one to review your test results and entertain your diabetes related questions and a nutritionist from SNAP-Education will be demonstrating a tasty, budget friendly recipe, while sharing healthy eating tips, resources and healthy recipes. For further information please contact Samantha Gleeson, Public Health RN, at 845-745-4751.
