Middle Island, NY – – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Michael Loguercio have announced the recent paving of Longwood Road from Smith Road to Yaphank-Middle Island Road in Middle Island.
Prior to paving, crews completed concrete improvements, inspecting all area drains and repairing and replacing damaged concrete sidewalk, aprons and curb. The total cost for this paving project was approximately $475,200.
“With both the Longwood High School and Junior High situated on Longwood Road, it is a main artery that sees a ton of traffic, especially when school is in session,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “Teachers, students, bus drivers, residents, and pedestrians can all enjoy a safer, smoother ride when they return to school next week.”
Councilman Loguercio said, “In government, our first priority is to keep our residents safe, and that includes well-maintained roads in order to avoid motor vehicle accidents, especially in the vicinity of schools. Thank you to Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro and his staff for another wonderful job, and for completing it before the first day of school.”
