Farmingville, NY – On October 2, Supervisor Ed Romaine (right) was at the Greenport Fire Department headquarters to honor Ex-Chief Peter Harris (left) for 50 years of dedicated service to the community. Ex-chief Harris has been a member of the Greenport Fire Department since April 1971 and over the past 50 years he has held the following offices: 1st Lieutenant; Captain; 1st Assistant Chief; 2nd Assistant Chief; Warden; and Company Treasurer. During the event, Supervisor Romaine recognized Ex-chief Harris by presenting him with a proclamation that included the following words, “All citizens benefit from the selfless service of our highly trained Firefighters, providing each one of us with a greater sense of security, knowing they are well prepared in an emergency.” It also declared that the October 2, 2022 be proclaimed as Peter Harris Day in the Town of Brookhaven. The proclamation was signed by all the members of the Brookhaven Town Board.
