[ARCHIVED] Town Demolishes Vacant “Zombie House” on Huntington Drive in Mastic Beach

Town Seal

Farmingville, NY – On October 11, Councilman Dan Panico (right), Suffolk County Legislator Jim Mazzarella (left) and Pattersquash Creek Civic Association president, Frank Fugarino (center) were on-hand for the demolition of a long time vacant “zombie house” located at 103 Huntington Drive in Mastic Beach. The house was the source of resident complaints and a blight in the neighborhood. It was demolished by the Town of Brookhaven in accordance with Chapter 73 of the Town Code which provides a “fast track” to rid neighborhoods of unsafe structures.

Councilman Panico said, “While we prefer owners to take responsibility and address these blighted properties, the Town of Brookhaven will act when that does not occur. Our commitment on these issues has yielded extremely positive results for the communities and people we serve. Everyone deserves to live in a clean and safe community.”
