Farmingville, NY – – Recently, Councilwoman Jane Bonner held her second E-Waste Collection, Paper Shredding and Drug Take Back event of 2022 at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai. Despite the torrential rain throughout the day, environmentally conscious residents came out to safely dispose of unused electronic devices, have their old paper documents securely shredded, and to safely dispose of old prescription drugs. This special recycling event was co-sponsored by DIME Community Bank. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department was represented by Core Officer Jason Graff (left) and Deputy Sheriff Sergeant Artie Sanchez (right) who were on-hand to accept the prescription drugs for disposal. Over 400 cars stopped by to recycle 15,000 lbs. of paper; 7,900 lbs. of e-waste and 16 boxes of unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal. Councilwoman Bonner said, “My fall recycling event was an overwhelming success thanks to all the residents who took the time to stop by and drop off their paper, e-waste and old prescription drugs. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make this a successful event, especially the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department for helping to get old, expired drugs out of medicine cabinets where they can be very dangerous when in the wrong hands.”
