Farmingville, NY – – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine has announced that the Riverhead Town Board adopted a resolution on October 18 to provide a $25,000 grant for Dress for Success (DFS) Brookhaven to establish a satellite location in Riverhead Town to better serve residents from Riverhead and the East End. The grant will be funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The Dress for Success Brookhaven affiliate was established in 1999 to serve all Long Island, and they have recently been exploring ways to better serve the East End. Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar attended the September 28 DFS Brookhaven Gala at Land’s End in Sayville and has shown great interest in supporting and expanding it into Riverhead. The $25,000 ARPA grant is the first step in facilitating that expanded presence.
Supervisor Romaine said, “I thank Supervisor Aguiar for spearheading the effort to expand Dress for Success Brookhaven to Riverhead and the East End. The need is great and establishing the new Riverhead location will make it more convenient for women to take advantage of the many services and programs offered by Dress for Success Brookhaven.”
Sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven Department of General Services, Dress for Success Brookhaven is an affiliate of the International Dress for Success program. It provides professional attire to women looking for jobs, job and career training, support from other women, and mentoring. The organization also offers a six-week Career Edge class that develops participants’ resume writing, networking, job searching and interview skills. All programs offered by the organization are free.
The Dress for Success Boutique is located at Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill in Farmingville. It is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on selected Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All client visits are by appointment only.
