Farmingville, NY – – On January 30, Councilman Michael Loguercio visited Longwood High School in Middle Island to honor Senior student Wallace (Wally) Wilson III for being named the winner of the New York State High School Football Coaches Association 12th Man Award. This recognition is awarded to a single athlete in the state who overcame adversity or medical hardship. At age 14, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called Graves’ Disease. After overcoming many personal health challenges, he was able to return to Longwood High School as a junior, join the varsity football team and start each game of the season.
