Farmingville, NY – – On March 4, Supervisor Ed Romaine was on-hand with members of the Middle Island Civic Association for the unveiling of the Artist Lake Historic Marker in Middle Island. The marker recognizes local artist Alonzo Chappel (1828-1887), a “painter of American History” who lived near the lake from 1870 until his death in 1887. Artist Lake, is a glacial kettle hole lake located south of Middle Country Road (New York State Route 25), east of Yaphank-Middle Island Road (Suffolk County Route 21).
