Councilwoman Bonner Honors Alex Ramos, New Eagle Scout from Troop 124 in Holbrook

Farmingville, NY – On May 6, Councilwoman Jane Bonner (left) was a guest at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Boy Scout Alex Ramos from Troop 124 in Holbrook. The event was held at the VFW Post 6249 in Rocky Point. Alex, who lives in Wading River, is a recent graduate with honors from St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2022 with 4 palms by earning 44 merit badges, over and above the standard 21 needed, including the 2020 Bernard Harris Supernova Award which recognizes superior achievement by a Scout in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). To earn the award, Scouts must earn three Nova awards, the Scholarship merit badge, and four Nova approved STEM related merit badges. They must also complete two Supernova activities. Alex’s Eagle scout project was to restore, repair and beautify the 250 ft retaining wall in front of St. John the Baptist church in Wading River, where he and his family are active parishioners. He is currently enrolled in Suffolk County Community College working toward a degree in Computer Science and writing his own computer game that he hopes to release in the fall of 2023. Additionally, Alex works at the Atlantis Aquarium banquet hall in Riverhead.
