Superintendent Losquadro, Councilman Manzella Announce Completion of $990,000 Selden/Farmingville

Brookhaven, NY – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilman Neil Manzella have announced the completion of a paving project stretching from Farmingville to Selden.

Prior to paving, crews completed extensive concrete improvements, inspecting and installing new drains and repairing and replacing damaged concrete curbing, sidewalks and aprons. Crews removed and replaced 130 square feet of concrete aprons, 8,678 square feet of sidewalk, 2,646 linear feet of concrete curb. Nearly 4,000 square feet of handicap ramps were also replaced and brought into ADA-compliance at a cost of approximately $80,000.

Roads resurfaced during this paving project include Awixa Place, Bicycle Court, Oneida Avenue, and South Bicycle path from Mooney Pond Road in Selden to Mt. McKinley Avenue in Farmingville. In addition, a left-turn lane was created at the entrance to the Rose Carracappa Baseball Field on South Bicycle Path.

The total cost for this paving project was approximately $990,000.

Superintendent Losquadro said, “South Bicycle Path is a major artery running from Selden to Farmingville. It is a main roadway for motorists accessing the Catholic Health Ampitheater at Bald Hill, Sachem East High School, as well as Brookhaven Town Hall. In addition to the roadway’s resurfacing, crews also replaced a great deal of damaged concrete. The area is now safer for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.”

Councilman Manzella said, “The residents of the 3rd council district have made it clear that the continued improvement of our roadways is a top priority. When addressing this, I couldn’t ask for a better partner than Superintendent Losquadro. I will stay focused on ensuring our Highway Department has the means to continue their great work for our community.”
