Farmingville, NY – On May 9, Supervisor Ed Romaine (second from left) and Councilman Dan Panico were joined by Suffolk County Legislator Rudy Sunderman at the demolition of a dilapidated, abandoned house located at 136 Riviera Drive in Mastic Beach. The house was seized by Suffolk County as a property tax forfeiture and transferred to the Town. It was demolished by the Town’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management and the property will be preserved as open space. Supervisor Ed Romaine said, “The demolition of this eyesore is another example of how different levels of government work together to improve the quality of life in the community. Houses like this one are a detriment to the community and I commend Councilman Panico for working with Legislator Sunderman to get this done.”
Councilman Panico said, “We are waging the most aggressive crackdown on suburban blight in Brookhaven history, and we are winning.”
