Farmingville, NY – On September 30, Supervisor Ed Romaine (left) welcomed attendees to the Town of Brookhaven’s Division of Women’s Services 14th annual conference, sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Board. The event was held at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville. This year, the conference addressed the difficult yet important issue of Human Trafficking 101, an unfortunate reality that affects many young women. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison delivered the keynote addresses. Additional panelists included Suffolk County Police Department Detective James Johnson; Suffolk County Assistant District Attorneys Amanda Burke and Vanessa McEvoy; Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) Stephanie Muller; Suffolk County Correction Officer Sgt. Erin Meunkle; Feride Castillo, Co-Founder of ECLI-VIBES; and Laura Mullen, survivor of human trafficking and Co-Founder/ President of the ECLI Advisory Board.
