Supervisor Romaine and Councilman Loguercio Celebrate Suffolk Barktoberfest Pet Costume Parade

Farmingville, NY –  On October 29, Supervisor Ed Romaine (left) and Councilman Michael Loguercio attended the Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center's Suffolk "Barktoberfest" Howl-o-ween Pet Parade and Costume Contest at Fireman’s Park in Ridge. The event was sponsored by the Suffolk County Legal Aid Society and Shirley Feed. The Supervisor also announced that the Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will offer free adoptions on October 30 and 31, providing families with an excellent opportunity to bring a new furry friend into their lives. The “free” adoptions include free neuter or spay services, vaccinations, microchips, licenses, FIV/FELV testing, and flea and fecal treatments. The highlight of the day was the Costume Parade, where pets and their owners showcased their creativity and Halloween spirit. See the winners below:

3rd Place: “Rosie” the turkey, owner Elizabeth Newman
4th Place: “Westlyn,” the Corgi, owner Nichole Grunert
5th Place: “Ruby” the poodle, owner Jeff Horne

The Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday 11:00 am to 3:30 pm.
