[ARCHIVED] Town Demolishes Zombie House on Hounslow Road in Shirley

Town Seal

Farmingville, NY –  On November 28, Deputy Supervisor Dan Panico (pictured) attended the demolition of a “Zombie House” located at 64 Hounslow Road in Shirley. The property, which had not been maintained for many years, was overgrown with trees, bushes, high grass and a thick blanket of leaves. The house, which was vacant and deteriorating, was demolished by the Town’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management and the land was cleared of all debris. The property will be preserved as open space by the Town.

Deputy Supervisor Panico said, "We have waged a war against suburban blight, and we are winning that war for our communities."
