Supervisor Panico Appoints Timothy A. Rothang to the Brookhaven Open Space Advisory Committee

Farmingville, NY –  On January 8, Supervisor Daniel J. Panico announced the appointment of Timothy A. Rothang (pictured) to the Town of Brookhaven Open Space Advisory Committee. Mr. Rothang, a resident of Shirley hamlet, is currently Chief of Staff to Suffolk County Legislator, James F. Mazzarella (District 3). Prior to his current position, Mr. Rothang served as the Executive Assistant to former Brookhaven Town Supervisor and current Suffolk County Executive, Edward P. Romaine. Mr. Rothang’s new position on the Open Space Advisory Committee takes effect immediately.

“Tim is a civic-minded individual with a wealth of experience working in local government,” said Supervisor Panico. “His breadth and depth of knowledge will serve this committee well.”

In 2014 Mr. Rothang was recognized as one of Long Island’s Top Young Professionals Under 30 by the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Rothang earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Bonaventure University and a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Stony Brook University.

The Open Space and Farmland Acquisition Advisory Committee currently consists of 14 members who were selected based on their expertise and to ensure adequate geographic representation throughout the Town of Brookhaven. The primary responsibility of the committee is to advise the Brookhaven Town Board on the merits of proposed acquisitions of open space and farmland.
