Farmingville, NY –  On March 28, Councilman Kevin J. LaValle hosted the New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program at the Selden Fire Department headquarters. More than 150 people attended the event where representatives from the National Guard and Department of Homeland Security discussed what to do, and what not to do, in case of an emergency. The two hour training session provided residents with the tools and resources to prepare them for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family that participated received a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit.

“I thank the Selden Fire Department for hosting the program, the other departments for being co-sponsors and the residents for taking the time to join in on this informative event. What was learned will help residents protect their property and keep their families safe. I commend Governor Cuomo for putting together the program and the National Guard and Department of Homeland Security for their very informative presentation.”
