Farmingville, NY – On April 25, Brookhaven Town will be holding a blood drive from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm in the 2nd floor auditorium at Town Hall, One Independence Hill in Farmingville. The event is co-sponsored by the Town and Long Island Blood Services (LIBS), a division of New York Blood Center, the nation's largest community-based non-profit blood collection and distribution organization. LIBS has been providing life-saving blood products and services to 50 hospitals throughout Nassau, Suffolk and Queens for close to 40 years.
"The demand for blood donations rises in the summer," said Supervisor Romaine. "Every two seconds, someone needs blood, so I encourage everyone who can donate to help to make the blood drive a success."
The Town of Brookhaven holds three blood drives each year. For more information about blood donation and blood drives in your area, visit www.nybloodcenter.org or call LIBS at 1-800-933-BLOOD (2566).
