Farmingville, NY – On May 11, the Brookhaven Town Disability Task Force held an event at Town Hall to bring together organizations that provide services to children with disabilities. The meeting was conducted by Task Force Chairwoman Marlene Patti and provided an opportunity for representatives to explain services offered by their organization. It also brought a greater sense of awareness of programs that are available for youth, while simultaneously allowing those who participated to expand their referral lists. By working with these organizations, the Task Force will continue to create partnerships to develop more opportunities for children in Brookhaven Town.
On September 30, 2014, Supervisor Ed Romaine and the Town Board passed resolution 2014-672 establishing the Town of Brookhaven’s Disability Task Force. The mission of the Task Force is to provide the Town Board with information and recommendations. They will advise the Town in its continuing efforts to offer equal opportunities for residents with disabilities to be active members of our community.
