Farmingville, NY –  On June 16, Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremonies for two outstanding young people: James Alexander C. Pfizer from Troop 117 in Stony Brook and Connor Gillan from Troop 427 in Setauket. Connor’s event was held at at the historic Setauket Neighborhood House and James’ was held at Paul J. Gelinas Jr. High School in Setauket. Requirements for Eagle Scout are stringent, and include an individual project to benefit the community.

Connor’s project of building four large wooden picnic tables at Hope Academy in Mt. Sinai has proven to be of great benefit to those in the program who are overcoming personal difficulties. Hope Academy is associated with Hope House Ministries. James’ project focused on the protection of the Three Village Garden Club/Arboretum by installing deer fences and shrubs.

“Congratulations go out to Connor and James. I am pleased to celebrate and highlight the work of these young men, and honored to be invited here today. We are fortunate to have them care for our community,” stated Councilwoman Cartright. “Their projects greatly benefit residents as well as the natural environment,” she added.
