Farmingville, NY - In a continued effort to combat drug and alcohol abuse in Brookhaven Town, Supervisor Ed Romaine has announced a Substance Abuse Education Workshop for parents, hosted by the Town’s Youth Bureau. It will take place on Tuesday, June 6 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville. Light dinner will be served. The workshop will be available in both English and Spanish and will be called “The More You Know.”
Topics will include adolescent behavior and development, why they may choose to use drugs, what drugs adolescents are using and how to talk to them about drugs. This program is made possible by a grant through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice.
Last year, the Youth Bureau held a series of well-attended programs on drug and alcohol abuse, including a Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Education and Awareness Program, which highlighted the current heroin epidemic facing our community.
