Farmingville, NY - On March 8, Councilman Michael Loguercio and the Brookhaven Town Youth Bureau held a successful Free College Seminar Program for parents and students at Town Hall. Representatives from Suffolk Community College (SCCC) discussed the college application process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and the various programs and services the college offers to students.
Councilman Michael Loguercio, who serves as the Town Board liaison to the Youth Bureau, said, “It is very gratifying to know that this program has been able to help guide students and parents through the college application and financial aid process. I want to thank Suffolk County Community College and the Youth Bureau for working together to bring this program to the residents of Brookhaven Town, and I look forward to working with them toward its continued success.”
"We are always pleased to work with Brookhaven Town to educate parents and students about Suffolk County Community College's programs, and we look forward to future endeavors with the Town," said SCCC President Dr. Shaun McKay.
Most of the information discussed can be used toward the overall application and financial aid process. Parents and students actively engaged in the seminar by asking questions and taking notes. Several participants stayed after the end of the presentation to ask the SCCC representatives questions and obtain materials that will help start them with the college application process.
