Farmingville, NY - On May 14, the Brookhaven Youth Bureau and Councilman Michael Loguercio held a successful Vaping Seminar Program for parents and students at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville. Representatives from the Suffolk County Health Department discussed facts and myths behind vaping products and how to recognize the various devices and products. They also discussed how to effectively talk to adolescents about vaping, and methods young people can use to refuse vaping if asked.
Councilman Michael Loguercio, who serves as the Town Board Liaison to the Youth Bureau, said, “I do not want this generation of young people to be the guinea pig generation for vaping. What is scary is that students may think vaping is safer. However, vaping products have not been around very long, and it is possible kids can be doing a lot of damage to their personal health before long-term research is available.”
“I want to thank the Brookhaven Youth Bureau and Suffolk County Department of Health for working with me to bring this program to Brookhaven Town,” Councilman Loguercio continued. “Vaping has become the new cigarettes for our younger generation, and it is very important for both parents and students to educate themselves.”
