Farmingville, NY - Supervisor Ed Romaine has announced the recipients of the 2017 Women's Recognition Awards who will be honored at the 31st Annual Women's Recognition Night. The event, which will be held on March 30 at 7 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall and is open to the public, is sponsored by the Town's Office of Women's Services. Nominated by members of the community, the winners either live or work in the Town of Brookhaven and have demonstrated excellence in a variety of areas. Nominations were considered by members of Brookhaven's Women's Advisory Board and selected based on resumes and letters of recommendation. The 2017 Women’s Recognition Award winners are:
- Arts: Larissa Grass, Art Educator; Harbor Country Day School, resident of Medford Business: Katherine Ann Cahill, Chief Executive Officer; Owner Cahill Consultants Inc., resident of Holbrook
- Communications/Media: Candice Cain, Writer/ Director; Owner Gemelli Films Inc., resident of Brookhaven
- Community Service Volunteer: Dr. Misty Curreli, Rape Crisis Counselor; VIBS Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center, resident of East Setauket
- Education: Lori Blend, Head of Children’s Services; North Shore Public Library, resident of Wading River
