Farmingville, NY - On September 13, the Town of Brookhaven Women’s Services Division will present the second session of “Career EDGE.” This program is designed to help unemployed and under-employed women gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. The Career EDGE program is facilitated by Rita Kiernan. View flyer (PDF).
The six-session program will cover:
- Strategies to Succeed in today’s job market
- Customizing and composing your resumé and cover letters that make a difference
- Navigating LinkedIn and other social media outlets for job leads, and much more
- Work with a professional career mentor
Participants will also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with professional career coaches and build a personal network in a small, supportive environment with other women.
The Career EDGE sessions will be held in the 2nd floor Media Room at Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill in Farmingville.
The Wednesday session dates are September 13 (orientation), 20, 27; October 4, 11, 18, 25; and November 1 (graduation), from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. To learn more or to see if you qualify for this program, please call 631-451-9127.

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help clients find jobs and remain employed. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work.
The Dress for Success Boutique is located at Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill in Farmingville. It is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on selected Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All client visits are by appointment only.
