Farmingville, NY - Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine and members of the Town Council were presented with a $77,800 rebate check at the April 27 Town Board meeting for participating in the PSEG Long Island Commercial Efficiency Program. The rebate is a result of the Town replacing 980 fluorescent lighting fixtures with energy efficient LED lighting on the first floor of Town Hall. All together, the Town has upgraded a total of 2166 lighting fixtures at Town Hall with rebates totaling $183,746. All installations were handled by the Town Hall Engineering Department.
The upgrade is part of Supervisor Romaine’s “Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Initiative,” part of a 5-year Capital Plan to achieve a 50% reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 2020. The plan focuses on Town-owned Buildings and Facilities, Traffic Controls, Street Lights and Town Vehicles.
