Supervisor Romaine Attends Boating Safety Day at Nickis on the Bay in Bay Shore

Farmingville, NY - On Saturday July 22, Supervisor Romaine participated in Boating Safety Awareness Day at Nicki’s on the Bay in Bay Shore. The event was organized by Gina Costa Lieneck, the mother of Brianna Lieneck, who was killed when a boat crashed into the craft that held her and her family as passengers on the Great South Bay in 2005. Since the incident, Gina has become an advocate for boating safety. Lieneck and Captain Richard Werner co-hosted a Boating Safety Awareness Day in collaboration with Safe Boating America. The event kicked off with a press conference to raise awareness for boating safety and urging legislation for the licensing of all boaters. Joining the Supervisor were Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. The day continued with informational seminars and water safety classes in an effort to help make water recreation safer for everyone on Long Island.
