Councilman LaValle Announces -Run the Farm 4 Mile Challenge- Raises Over 7,500 for Bethel Hobbs Farm

Farmingville, NY - On August 19, the 3rd Annual “Run the Farm 4 Mile Challenge” was held in Centereach. Brookhaven Town Councilman Kevin LaValle and Suffolk County Legislator Tom Muratore co-sponsored the event that started at Oxhead Elementary School and finished at the 11-acre Bethel Hobbs Farm. Over 200 runners participated and more than $7,500 was raised. Over 25 corporate sponsors and numerous community groups helped make this event possible. All proceeds from the race benefit the farm to help provide fresh, wholesome produce to local food pantries, programs and more in the local community. The farm is also an educational place for local businesses, schools and other organizations to volunteer and to improve the quality of life in our community.

Councilman LaValle said, “I want to thank all the runners who took part in the race and the many volunteers who donated their time to help make it such a great success. The Bethel Hobbs Farm is a big part of the Centereach community and I appreciate all they do for our neediest families.”
