Town Officials Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Voting Rights for Women at Suffragist Parade and Rally

Farmingville, NY - On Sunday, September 10, Supervisor Ed Romaine, Town Clerk Donna Lent and Councilwoman Jane Bonner celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Voting Rights for New York Women at a parade and rally in Lake Ronkonkoma. Many of the suffragists dressed for the event in traditional clothing as it may have been in 1917. The rally, which was held at the American Legion Post Number 155 Hall, started with a ceremony that included songs, speeches, displays and historical information about the women’s suffrage movement on Long Island.
