Farmingville, NY - On September 16, Supervisor Ed Romaine attended the 11th annual Central Pine Barrens Discovery Day held at the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge in Shirley. This family event offered adults and children the opportunity to learn about one of Long Island’s most important natural areas by experiencing it first-hand. Activities included Funshops, Nature Walks, Kids Discovery Center games and hands-on exhibits. There were also presentations about Long Island’s birds of prey, marine life, flying squirrels, fire tower history, fire rangers, wildlife forensics and a guided walk along the trails of Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge with an expert naturalist.
