Farmingville, NY - On January 17, Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright attended the Girl Scouts Women’s Career Night at Norwood Avenue School in Port Jefferson Station. Many women leaders in business and government attended to share their knowledge with the young women. The troops utilized the time to learn more about the careers, the education they would need and what it takes to be successful. It was a way for women to empower other women.
For more than a hundred years, the Girl Scouts organization has been building up strong women through their goal of instilling confidence, and building courage and character so that they can make the world a better place. “These girls already have so much potential; it’s important to show them that as a woman or a mom, you can still be a strong business leader and a leader of your community,” said Councilwoman Cartright.
