Councilwoman Bonner Honors Grand Marshal, Queen and Royal Court of St. Patrick's Day Parade

Councilwoman Bonner Honors Grand Marshal, Queen and Royal Court of the Miller Place-Rocky Point St.

Farmingville, NY - On March 2, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the annual Friends of St. Patrick Cocktail Dinner Party held at East Wind Caterers in Wading River. She was there to honor the newly crowned Queen, Royal Court, and Grand Marshal for the 68th Annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year’s Queen is Jordan McClintock, a Shoreham-Wading River High School senior and her Ladies in Waiting are Miranda Navas a Rocky Point High School senior and Melanie Weidman from Sound Beach. The parade Grand Marshal is Andrew J. Streef, owner of the Hartlin Inn in Sound Beach. He will march in the parade in honor of his late business partner Richie Harting who introduced Mr. Streef to the Friends of St. Patrick.

The Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade has a rich history that dates back to 1949, when two local businessmen, John M. Sullivan and George Faulkner, formed a committee of local residents and businessmen to organize a parade. On March 11, 1950, the first Grand Marshal, John Sullivan, led the parade down Route 25A from Miller Place to downtown Rocky Point. Nearly 1000 people attended the inaugural event.
