Farmingville, NY - On April 21, Supervisor Ed Romaine, Councilman Michael Loguercio and Councilman Kevin LaValle attended the Town of Brookhaven’s Disability Task Force Youth Abilities Resource Fair held at the Middle Country Public Library in Centereach. The “sensory friendly” event was a fun-filled day to learn about the resources available for children with disabilities in Brookhaven Town. The fair, which was attended by more than 400 people, featured 40 resource tables, interactive children’s activities, occupational therapy student volunteers, guest speakers and more. It was planned and presented by the Town’s Disability Task Force in partnership with the Middle Country Public Library Youth Department staff and Stony Brook University Occupational Therapy students. The mission of the Brookhaven Town Disability Task Force is to provide the Town Board with information and recommendations that will help the Town in its efforts to develop programs and improve facilities in order to accommodate and offer equal opportunities for residents with special needs and allow them to be active members of our community.
