Joe Longo’s Eagle Scout project was to refurbish the children's play area at Our Lady of Wisdom school located at Infant Jesus Church in Port Jefferson. Joe, with help from his troop, power washed the walls, cleaned and repaired the play structures and sand box, and replanted the garden with dwarf arborvitae and hostas. Eagle Scout Justin’s project was to construct a new events sign in front of the First Presbyterian Church and picnic tables for the children's playground area at the church.
“Councilwoman Cartright said, "I commend these two extraordinary young men for their commitment to scouting and their service to the community. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is a great achievement that they should be very proud of. I also want to acknowledge their parents for their support and encouragement. Boy Scouts are the leaders of tomorrow, and from meeting Joe and Justin, I can say that we’ll be in good hands.”
