Councilwoman Bonner Attends Gold Award Ceremony for Girl Scouts Service Unit 604

Farmingville, NY - On June 11, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the Girl Scouts Service Unit 604 Gold Award ceremony at the Mount Sinai Middle School. During the event, Councilwoman Bonner presented a Certificate of Congratulations to the recipients, Julia Hecht; Brittany Becker; Alexandra Suslan; Nina Barcelon and Grace Burns. Also pictured is Leeanna Costa from AHRC in Wading River. All five Gold Award recipients are Mount Sinai High School seniors. Unit 604 serves the Mount Sinai-Miller Place-Sound Beach communities.

The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve. This prestigious award requires an Ambassador Girl Scout to design and implement a project that serves her community. It must consist of at least eighty hours of service while making a sustainable impact.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “These young women are very special and they set a great example of what it means to be a Girl Scout. They are the leaders of tomorrow who strive every day to be the best they can be and I congratulate them for earning their Gold Awards.”
